About Us

Our Mission and Purpose

Lions Clubs International is the largest non-profit service organization in the world, with over 1.46M members in over 200 countries. With a Helen Keller legacy of life-changing services for the visually and hearing impaired, the association is also acclaimed for humanitarian support in areas such as the environment, diabetes, pediatric cancer, and eliminating hunger.

The mission of Lions worldwide is local community volunteerism, encouraging peace, and promoting international understanding. The simple motto is We Serve.

Lions have been active in California for the past 100 years. Hands-on, blue-collar activism in service projects is what California Lions do best. With over 730 clubs and 20,000 members united to support the needy in virtually every local community, the Lions of California welcome, embrace, and partner in service projects with like minded individuals, associations, and corporations.

Lions are inclusive, where diversity is valued and encouraged, including gender, race, and religion. At the same time, Lions promote and require adherence by its members to the highest ethical standards.
